Dono de uma das mais poderosas vozes do Rock mundial, David Coverdale iniciou sua caminhada de sucesso ao tornar-se o vocalista do DEEP PURPLE em 1973, uma das mais populares bandas de Rock do mundo. Após tornar-se uma das bandas que mais vendia nos EUA sob o comando de Coverdale , o Deep Purple,"misteriosamente", demitiu-o!!! Isto aconteceu em 76. A história de nossa querida "Serpente Branca" começa em 1977, apenas um ano após a separação da formação IV do Deep Purple. Nesse ano foi gravado o LP David Coverdale Whitesnake (enfatizou a aparência de o guitarista Micky Moody, velho amigo de escola de Coverdale). Um ano mais tarde, em 1978, integrou-se à banda, após as recomendações de Moody, Bernie Marsden que gravou o LP NorthWinds. A partir de então a banda passaria a ser chamada definitivamente Whitesnake somente. Com a entrada do velho companheiro de Deep Purple, John Lord, gravou o EP Snake Bite. Agora, com os dois ex-purples na banda o fantasma do Deep Purple estava começando a ser desenhado no céu. David Coverdale tinha sido convertido em uma besta real em cena. Com todo o palco para ele, com sua banda atrás dele seguindo seu poder, David foi sentido o que é certo e ele teve duvida em fazer acrobacias difíceis com o pé do microfone, agitando seu cabelo longo ao mesmo tempo que lançava olhares dos insinuantes nas meninas e as provocava com suas posturas eroticas.
